Characterization of novel regulators in allogeneic T cell responses

Donor T cells are essential effector cells for graft-versus-leukemia reactions, but also graft-versus-host responses after allogeneic stem cell transplantation.

On the one hand, our group is working on NF-kB regulation in allogeneic T cell responses, especially regarding new therapeutic options in graft versus host disease (GvHD) or in a relapse situation after allogeneic transplantation. In this context, we are investigating the impact of costimulatory molecules (as OX40) in allogeneic T cell responses, particularly focusing NF-kB induction and regulation.

Furthermore, we are interested in particular T cell subtypes, as for example T follicular helper cell responses in the pathogenesis of acute and chronic GvHD. The CD4+ CXCR5+ T follicular helper cells mediating B cell responses and play a central role in autoimmune diseases, lymphomas but also GvHD. We are working on a closer characterization of T follicular helper cells in the context of allogeneic transplantation, especially regarding their regulatory properties.
